We all know that the pace of life is different in different places and cultures. People who live in big cities usually live at a ( b ) pace.
For example, many of the people living in Tokyo always look busy. When we visit a place for the first time,
we get a general idea of life there. And when we get an idea of the place, the pace of life there plays an importnat part.
But that isn't just true for places and cultures. There are also big differences in paces among people, even people living in the same town and same culture.
People living next to you may spend their lives at much faster or slower paces. Researchers want to know why people have different ideas about the pace of life.
To study that, they look at people's ideas of time urgency."
Time urgency is the effort a person makes to do as much as or as soon as he or she can.
Everyone has his or her own time urgency.
Some people feel the need to try to do a lot.
Other people set their goals ( c ) and do not want to do too much.
When people are asked about the pace of their lives, they usually think about different things.
They are the pace that they feel comfortable at their schools or offices, the level of actibity that they want to do in their own lives, and in the environment around them.
To make a careful judgment about the pace of your own life, ask yourself, "Do you feel the pace of your life is too fast, too slow, or just right when it comes to your school or work life, home life, social life and life as a whole?"
People usually think that a fast person is better than a slow person, but I have a different idea.
When you have to decide your future plans, thinking deeply is more ( d ) than deciding in a short time.
When you think about your future deeply, the time one person feels very long may be too short for another.
But don't worry about the time.
Each of you sould choose the pace that is best for you.
